Welcome to Semcon Design Days 2016 - Student Challenge !

Master or bachelor students studying in the following countries can apply to Semcon Design Days - Student Challenge :
  • Sweden
  • Norway
  • Denmark
  • Finland
  • Germany

  • France
The best submissions are published on the Semcon Design Days web site and can be promoted in social media, thus offering the students an opportunity to reach a global audience. Two submissions of each pathway pathway (where an accepted level of the submission is reached judged by Semcon) are selected and invited to be presented to the jury and shown in the exhibition at Semcon on June 14-15. One winner in each pathway will be awarded and will present their submission to the audience at Semcon Design Days Event on June 15. The jury will select and award one overall winner, who wins the Semcon Design Days Grand Award. 

Important dates
  • 1st of April 2016 - Competition start!
  • 6th of May 2016 - Final submission day!
  • 13th of May 2016 - Presentation of competition finalists
  Finalists from each pathway are presented on Designdays.se and Semcon Facebook.
  • 14th-15th of June 2016 - Welcome to Semcon and the Design Days event
  • 14th of June - Gathering of student finalists at Semcon in Gothenburg, Sweden.
  • 15th of June - Presentation of submissions
  • 15th of June - Presentation of winners

Jury & Evaluation Criteria

The jury choosing the winners is composed of experts and industry leaders. The jury will award designs and concepts which best meet the judging criteria mentioned in the brief. The jury panel will focus on the following key criteria when looking at your design:

  • Does the design truly answer the brief?
  • Does it embrace intuitive design?
  • User based design?
  • Sustainable design approach?
  • Innovative?
  • Meaningful and relevant to the topic?
  • Aesthetically pleasing?
Submissions

All entries must be in English. Entries or files that do not meet the entry criteria may not be conveyed to the jury. Semcon reserves the right to remove any entry from the competition for any reason and without notice.

Submission formats:

  • 30 second animation/movie (Mandatory)
  • A2 poster (Mandatory)
  • Banner (Mandatory)
  • 120 second animation/movie (None mandatory)

Important

It’s important to note before entering the competition, that the submissions should be the participant’s own creation, shall not currently be in production and shall not previously have been published or exhibited (if a product, accessory or a consumable) or a working business (if a service or a solution).

Entries can be both individual or in small teams (max. 2 pers). Participants are asked to submit only one piece of work. Participants will be asked to verify its attendance and student credentials.
